TRANSMIT Presented at the 20th LCA Conference in Budapest

The 20th LCA Conference was held on 5–6 November 2025 in Budapest, hosted by Óbuda University. Marking two decades of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) research and industrial application in Hungary, the event brought together experts to reflect on achievements in the field and to address emerging challenges linked to circular-economy transitions, methodological innovation and data-driven sustainability. More than 70 participants attended in person and online.

TRANSMIT Highlighted in Solar-Cell LCA Session

The Bay Zoltán Research Centre, a partner in the TRANSMIT project, had a strong presence at the conference, contributing six presentations overall. Among these was a dedicated session on LCA in solar-cell manufacturing and recycling, where Renáta Bodnárné Sándor presented the TRANSMIT project.

Her presentation introduced TRANSMIT’s approach to environmental assessment, summarising the project’s current results and outlining plans for future life-cycle evaluation of its semi-transparent micro-striped thin-film photovoltaic (STPV) technology. The session provided an opportunity to discuss how TRANSMIT integrates sustainability considerations into early-stage innovation, ensuring that environmental performance is assessed alongside technical development.

Strengthening the Project’s Sustainability Outlook

Participation in the 20th LCA Conference provided a valuable platform for TRANSMIT to engage with experts from academia, industry and policy. By presenting its ongoing LCA work, the project contributed to broader discussions on the sustainability of photovoltaic technologies, material circularity and responsible innovation.

The event marked another important step in disseminating TRANSMIT’s progress and strengthening the project’s focus on lifecycle thinking as it advances towards further development stages.
